A saint in supplication bends
His knee before the Lord,
Saint Nicholas the children’s friend,
The Christ Child to adore

“Not I but Christ,” the saint repeats,
“Is why we keep this day
I point to Mary, and her child
I cannot help but pray.”

“The wonders that my name recalls
Are signs of love that bring us all
To work for justice and for peace
That by our prayer faith will increase.”

St Nicholas, we celebrate
Dear saint our thanks and praise;
With you for Christmas we await
Our voices now to raise
